Most United States’ high school graduates seeking admission into a tertiary institution don’t know how it feels to enroll for a degree program abroad. Some students yearn for it while others don’t care (probably).
At this moment, the Japan International Christian University Foundation based in New York has come up with a student grant scheme called the USSI (United States Scholars Initiative) in order to increase the number of foreign learners at the International Christian University (ICU) which is located in Japan.
This United States Scholars Initiative targets only high school graduates who are nationals of the United States and graduated from a United States based high school. The final list students of the United States Scholars Initiative will benefit from this student grant which pays their full tuition for a period of four years of studying an undergraduate degree program at the International Christian University, Japan.
You might be wondering what a Japanese International Christian University foundation might be doing in New York right? Well, they are a non-profit charity organization that aims to back the various global ecumenical programs of the institution.
The International Christian University is a university which is a non-denominational private institution located in Tokyo, Japan. The International Christian University popularly known as ICU (locally and internationally) was founded and established on 15th of June, 1949. It offers about 31 undergraduate majors.
The United States Scholars Initiative is sponsored and hosted by the International Christian University, Japan.
Scholarship Application Deadline
The scholarship application deadline for the United States Scholars Initiative is December 1st 2017. Any application sent to the governing body via any means after this date will not be considered. So what’s it saying in summary? Be sure to apply by December 1st 2017 (For interested applicants).
This scholarship is only available to new undergraduate students. Students who will commence studying in 2018. Plus, this scholarship will be taken at the campus of the ICU located in Tokyo, Japan.
Liberal Arts and field of languages are the courses which one can study under this scholarship program.
Available Scholarship Positions
There are only two positions available for applicants. This scholarship is quite competitive though but if you put in your best, you might be one of the winners.
As a scholar of the United States Scholars Initiative, full tuition fees are taken care of throughout a period of four years of study at the International Christian University.
The United States Scholars Initiative will be durable for a period of four years.
- Applicants must be a citizen of the United States.
- Applicants must be a graduate or will be a graduate of any United States high school.
- Must show interest in Japanese’s language and Japan.
- Willing to commence study in 2018.
- Intends to study liberal arts.
- Applicants must also be single. They mustn’t have any dependents as the program doesn’t have provisions for dependents.
- Applicants need to prove their English proficiency by submitting their TOEFL or IELTS score.
